Learner support services

What is a learner support? LSS partners with faculty and staff to advance educational equity by designing inclusive learning environments in Modified Supplemental Instruction, Small Group Tutoring, and Writing Support. Training providers can refer their students, including apprentices and trainees, to an LSS provider.


Academic tutoring and general student success resources are also located in these centers. It focuses on what the teacher or instructor can or should do to help learners beyond the formal delivery of content, or skills development. Students with documented disabilities who need academic accommodations should register with LSS by completing the Online Intake form through Clockwork.

Build a solid base of support with institutional leadership. The commitment of the executive team is essential to going forward. Identify team leaders and create a cross functional team to develop a strategic plan for student services. It includes wide range of academic and other related activities.


The support services should not only be responsive to the needs of the distance learners but should also be accessible. We hope you make us a part of your academic experience and we look forward to working with you! But the overall college experience for adult learners —the support services , the extracurricular opportunities—should be distinct.


Adults are at a different place in their lives, with different needs and commitments than 18- to 24-year-olds.

Learning Support Services offers a variety of programs and services to support students’ goals at any point in their college career. ODLSS is responsible for student evaluations, creating and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and working with schools, staff, and families to fulfill these plans towards greater student development and achievement. Our goal is to assist all students in the pursuit of their academic and life goals. We offer services that provide students who need focused and very specific medical issues to supports for different learning styles and difficulties. Instructional methods and learning environments vary by program and school to accommodate the individual needs of students. At REACH for Training, we know that undertaking study can be overwhelming. That’s why we are committed to providing our learners with additional support, advice or assistance to help achieve positive learning outcomes. In some cases, REACH for Training may need to refer learners to external support networks or liaise with an agreed third party to meet learner needs.


How much you get depends on your circumstances. To encourage learners to take ownership of and responsibility for their own learning, the use of the following approaches (used by teachers in best-performing schools) may be of assistance: Teaching learners self-regulatory skills, including how to manage time, handle distractions and control negative emotions. Learner Self-regulating Strategies. Recognizing that nee UNC Charlotte has designed library services specifically for adult online learners. Books are lent by mail with free shipping—they come with a return envelope—and librarians are available for live-chat and texting help hours a day through a state-wide consortium.


Services range from therapeutic consultations with a counselor to sessions with occupational or physical therapists. Having made the decision to pursue post-secondary education we invite you to become familiar with the support services offered by our knowledgeable and experienced staff. We offer resources as well as training and consulting on how to use them effectively.

Provides resources and instructional strategies that give students the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual support needed to learn. Bullying and Hate Motivated Behavior Prevention Provides resources for parents, administrators, and students on how bullying can be prevented and addressed. Preschool Itinerant Services is indicated for any preschool age student requiring support in the general education classroom for typically up to 1minutes weekly of educational services by an early childhood special education certified teacher.


This does not apply to a student receiving speech-only services.
